Prepare SO well that when it's time to perform, you can look effortless, be spontaneous, & just have fun.
Hi, I’m Coach Q James. I develop players from age 6 to the Pros in basketball but my priority is character building & leadership. I pride myself on being resourceful and I have acquired skills to break complex things down into simple things to understand.
I’ve been training for over 20 years and I’ve coached Travel, AAU, High School and College. I saw the need for players to develop their individual impact on and off the court. I have a passion for basketball & learning and a desperate desire to be effective.
I’m proud to have former players who have become All Americans on the college level and a few who are now high school & college coaches!
My mission is to help my players define the best version of themselves and let that person decide the player they will become. As a result of this they improve their character, leadership, abilities, understanding of the game, become better impact players and create amazing experiences.
This journey started for me when I offered to help an AAU program. My first basketball mentor thought I wanted to coach. I explained that I just wanted to help players to play better. He laughed at me asking what I thought coaches did. I told him that I observed a lot of coaches help the team but it didn’t always translate into helping the players.
From there, I would go to practice & notice when a player didn’t fully understand a concept or how a skill from a drill would be used in a game. I would tell that player to meet me 15 minutes before the next practice & I would work with them on it.
That simple process evolved into the skill development system that runs this program. I operating the same way today, observing & sharing details with players to help them deliver greater impact on & off the court.
Through the years I have learned a lot about how leadership improves ability to play. Also, most coaches LOVE when a player demonstrates leadership skills but few coaches take the time to teach them. I believe coaching a team is a difficult job {I respect coaches!} so I am glad to be knowledgable enough to assist with developing players.
